RED FLAGS
H. Jurgen Combs

HAVE YOU SEEN OR HEARD THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR CLASSROOM? If you answer yes to any of the following, it could be a signal that can lead to other problems during the year.

RED FLAGS from teachers:

"Any questions?" or "Do you understand?"

"Watch me while I do this."

"Well, if you don’t know, take a guess."

"If there are no questions, do page 30 for homework."

"We need to review. Remember yesterday we…"

"Now on a similar topic…."

"Please pay attention."

"Whose turn is it give their report now?"

"But I don’t have the time to reteach."

"Raise your hand to speak."

"Read the chapter and then do the activity."

From students:

"Not another hand-out (ditto)."

"This is dumb."

"How come my answer is wrong?"

"I don’t get it."

"How is this different from the others?"

"Another boring class/lecture."

"I don’t understand how I got this grade."
